We’re pleased to announce that Greg Brownfield has won a straw poll of the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO) in the three-way Democratic primary race for State Senator from the 23rd District.
Since 1944, IVI-IPO has been a nonpartisan force for good government in Illinois. IVI-IPO advocates continuously for openness, honesty, and transparency in campaign contests, and has a long history of supporting government reform and registering new voters.
On Saturday (January 14) Greg and his two primary opponents appeared separately (one candidate phoned in) before a group of IVI-IPO qualified members. Each candidate, having previously submitted answers to an exhaustive questionnaire, was then permitted to speak and respond to questions. A straw poll was then conducted among the assembled members to determine a winner, based upon the totality of survey responses, remarks, and answers given during the Q&A session. Greg easily outperformed his primary opponents, winning over 90% of the votes of the IVI-IPO members present for the poll.
